Celebrating good Design that means good business:
India’s first Design awards for Business Teams

The Designomics Awards in only its 2nd year received an overwhelming response. Demonstrating that Design has come a long way in India, and is rapidly gaining importance among businesses and corporates as a management tool.
The winners of Designomics Awards 2012 were shortlisted through a rigorous process where industry stalwarts were involved in evaluating entries on the basis of strategic thinking, the creative execution and resulting effectiveness.
As an added measure to seed strategic Design thinking in the country‚ Designomics Awards also introduced a category for students. The Students Awards were evaluated on the basis of rigour displayed in problem evaluation, research, ideation process and recommendation for execution that demonstrated the values of Designomics.

  This year, the jury comprises of
celebrated names from both the
Design and business fraternity.
 
 
  Judging criteria
 
  All the designomics awardees
submitted work that demonstrate a firm
and clear commitment to the principles
of Designomics. All submitted entries
were judged and graded against the
following criteria:
 
  Research & Strategy
This refers to a strategy based on an
understanding of the business goals of
the company, followed by research on
market environment and competition.
Thereby, forming strategic insights that
become the inspiration for creation of
design solutions.
 
  Creativity
Applying the core strategy to create
breakthrough solutions, while applying
cutting edge creativity to stand out in
the face of competition.
 
  Effectiveness
Demonstrating the effectiveness of the
Design intervention from a business
perspective.

India’s unique needs.

The new identity helped meet the business objectives even in a tough economy.

Vaamika Island, 1st Runner up, Digital − Website, for using Design to engage guests and generate leads.
Vaamika Island also won 2nd Runner up, Strategic Brand Identity.

brand of handcrafted beer.

Maruti Suzuki Private Limited, Winner, Print − Annual Reports, for communicating performance through
customer loyalty, emotional connect and brand-of-first-choice perspective through the otherwise overlooked
annual report.

Nitesh Estates, Winner, Print − Direct Response, for Nitesh Napa Valley, breaking the clutter and generating
leads and staying ahead of competition. Nitesh Estates also won the 1st Runner up in the same category for
their brochure for Nitesh Fisher Island.

Kyoorious − Transasia Fine Papers Pvt Ltd, Winner, Print − Publication Design, for fighting commoditization
of fine papers and connecting meaningfully with their key users.

Usha International Private Limited, Winner, Retail − Concept Store, for using Design to reinvent the art of
sewing by conceptualizing state-of−art experiential haberdashery store.

Tanishq, Winner, 1st and 2nd Runner up, Retail − Visual Merchandising, for exemplary Design solutions
addressing the elite and discerning jewellery buyers. Tanishq also won 2nd Runner up for Integrated
Design Project.
